GoogleOpe year round. Great place to chill on a long way Alaska Highway
Far up the Alaska Highway, where boreal forest, muskeg, and mountains stretch into a quieter kind of wilderness, this geothermal retreat offers one of British Columbia’s most memorable hot spring experiences. Guests follow a scenic wooden boardwalk through a landscape that feels untouched yet thoughtfully accessible, arriving at brilliantly clear thermal waters that naturally shift from hotter to cooler zones depending on where you stand. The result is a gentle contrast therapy experience without any artifice: soak, move, cool off, and settle back in while steam rises around you. Wildlife sightings are part of the atmosphere here too, with moose and bison adding to the sense that you are sharing the land, not just visiting it. The setting is rustic but well cared for, with robes provided, a relaxation room, and the option to combine the thermal pool with a refreshing river plunge for a simple, restorative circuit. Reviewers consistently describe the water as soothing, the boardwalk walk as part of the ritual, and even winter visits as magical against snow and frost. With a Wellness Score of 80, it stands out for delivering a deeply calming, nature-led soak that feels both remote and reliable. Capacity is limited to 10 guests, which helps preserve the meditative mood.
“I stopped by this amazing hot springs twice while driving to Alaska back in the 1990s. It was mid-May and while I was in the springs it started to snow. The hot springs at Liard are truly breathtaking. Beautiful forest landscape with relatively minimal human development in the area. If this hot springs was located in the lower 48 it would probably be privately owned and converted into a super expensive private spa. I cannot recommend stopping by Liard Springs enough, it is truly one of the hidden natural gems of this world.”

GoogleStopped on a very long road trip through Canada to Alaska in April. Rustic and beautiful but equipped with amenities like a changing area and educational information. We practically had the place to ourselves in the early morning hours. Definitely worth the small fee paid at the box near parking lot.
