As you can see, based on my other reviews, I’m not one to leave 1 star reviews. I typically reserve my reviews for businesses I genuinely love and want to endorse, however I believe potential customers deserve to be aware of possible challenges with this company. Despite my reluctance to leave a negative review, I am compelled to share the challenges I encountered during my purchase process with the Kevin the owner of Monashee.
My experience with Kevin began in October of 2021 when my husband and I decided to purchase a sauna from him. Unfortunately, what followed was a series of setbacks, unfulfilled promises, and quality issues that left us feeling disappointed and frustrated.
Despite initial assurances of a 12-14 week delivery timeframe, my sauna was delayed multiple times without sufficient explanation. Communication from Kevin was lacking, and it became increasingly difficult to obtain updates on the status of my order. Even after expressing my concerns and requesting a refund of my deposit, I faced resistance. After enduring a wait of over 6 months, Kevin finally delivered the sauna. However, upon inspection, I found multiple areas where the cedar was damage. Along with that, the floor began peeling up within a week of use. In addition to these issues, there were discrepancies between the promised and delivered components. Despite paying for western red cedar floor mats, a western red cedar heater guard, and a custom western red cedar x. None of these items were made from cedar as per our contract. Furthermore, my dissatisfaction escalated when I discovered that the specific sauna heater I had specifically selected from Kevin was substituted without my consent. Despite Kevin assuring me with a picture that the heater had arrived, upon delivery, I was shocked to find a completely different model. It was later revealed that my chosen heater had been given to another customer, highlighting a severe lack of professionalism and accountability on Kevin's part.
Despite these glaring issues, Kevin's behavior towards his hardworking crew was equally concerning. I commend Kevin's crew, who were wonderful, kind, and hardworking throughout the process. Despite their dedication, Kevin's behavior towards them was unacceptable. He was constantly yelling at them, rude, and disrespectful.
Lastly, despite Kevin agreeing in writing to refund us $2000 as a late penalty within 2 weeks, We are still awaiting this refund, further exemplifying his failure to honour agreements and commitments.
For those considering purchasing a sauna, I encourage you to also check the Better Business Bureau as there are currently three complaints on that accredited association.
While my experience with Kevin may have been less than ideal, I remain hopeful that he will take steps to address the issues raised and improve the customer experience in the future.
